The Stonington Harbor Yacht Club in conjunction with the Stonington Garden Club will welcome Keith Byrnes, Town Planner from the Town of Stonington to discuss the Coastal Resiliency Plan. This resiliency plan is about being wise, planning ahead, and protecting people, places, and investments. The plan calls for protecting public infrastructure from coastal flooding and sea level rise; minimizing potential for loss of life and destruction to property; minimizing expenditures associated with repeated repairs to public infrastructure after storms and identifying ways to enhance coastal resources. During his talk, Keith will provide an update on the Breakwater Repair plan in the Harbor and what can be learned from the UN Center for Excellence chaired by the Netherlands, a country living below sea level for hundreds of years. This event is free and open to the public and active participation from residents is encouraged. The talk will be held inside the Yacht Club, located at 32 Water Street (Stonington Commons #9). Contact Tricia Walsh at 860-535-0112 with any questions.
