Stonington Harbor Yacht Club will host a presentation that invites you aboard, dispels myths, and offers robust discussion of successful past Newport to Bermuda races. Led by Presenter and Bermuda Race Organizing Committee Veteran; Frank Bohlen. Veterans of the 635-mile offshore "Thrash to the Onion Patch" will present both the history and current challenges of this 114-year-old race, which next starts in June 2020. Imagine yourself at the helm of one of the 170-plus boats heading over the continental shelf, across the Gulf Stream, and making landfall in the island paradise of Bermuda. Sometimes a true "thrash," sometimes a test of patience, the race remains a bucket-list test of sailors.
This event is free and open to the public, registration is requested by calling 860-535-0112 or emailing email@example.com. Guests are encouraged to stay for dinner after the presentation.
