SHS - Slavery and the War of 1812

  • La Grua Center 32 Water St Stonington, CT, 06378 United States (map)

Pulitzer Prize winning Historian, Alan Taylor, presents "Slavery and the War if 1812".

Of special interest and local significance, the program will be presented on the 201stanniversary of the Battle of Stonington, and will explore many themes including race and slavery in the north; the tangled web of international and domestic relationships; and the economics of slavery and the War of 1812. The Stonington Historical Society provided many programs and events in August 2014 that explored more traditional themes of the War of 1812 and for many, including residents, this was their introduction into a momentous event in local history that also played a part in national and international events.
