Landscaping Committee

Making the Borough Beautiful

The mission of the SVIA is to enhance and beautify this Village. The SVIA's Landscape Committee works at Wayland’s Wharf and the Borough Playground.

At Wayland’s Wharf, SVIA has planted and maintains a hedgerow of rosa rugosa along the north wall. This is a very sturdy plant that can take the winter chill and the relentless winter winds and salt spray. SVIA also contributed to the fencing that surrounds and protects the Rain Garden that the Stonington Garden Club installed. This garden protects the harbor because the native plants in the garden act as natural water filters removing the toxins from the parking area before the water seeps into the harbor.

By the entrances to the Borough Playground, the gardens and plantings are planted and maintained by the SVIA.
