Elena Zamolodchikova

double harpsichord by Zuckermann

Passionate 17th-century duos & solos for Violin & Cembalo

March is New England's notice that Spring and pleasant weather will indeed return. What could be more appropriate to our seasonal renewal than to delve into the fresh, burgeoning richness of the 17th-century Baroque? Italian, German, French, and English music of the time are impassioned, teasingly sensuous, and possessed of wonderful drama.

Gifted Baroque violinist Natalie Kress and Stonington's brilliant harpsichordist Elena Zamolodchikova are bringing us an uninterrupted hour of sonatas, chaconnes, fantasies, and evocative period transcriptions. Seicento composers Biber, Castello, Schmelzer, Gibbons, Purcell, L. Couperin, and Lully painted every musical hue in existence in that astonishing era. This colorful, touching afternoon concert will transport all of us to seventeenth-century delight.

Tickets $10. 18 and under admitted free. Cash, check & credit card accepted at the door. For advance ticket sales, click here.
