The Stonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA) is sponsoring the First Annual Spring Boro Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Please join us to pick up trash that has accumulated over the winter at duBois Beach, the East Lawn, Cannon Square, Wayland’s Wharf, the Town Playground, part of Wadawanuck Square and Mathews Park, all of which are either owned or supported by the SVIA. “Pitch In” to keep plastics and other harmful garbage from reaching the pristine waters of Stonington Harbor and Little Narragansett Bay.
Grab a neighbor and meet up with everyone at the Point at 10:00 a.m. We will start at duBois Beach and East Lawn and then move on to Cannon Square, etc. At each area, kids can find tokens to trade in for special prizes at Mathews Park. There we will celebrate our efforts with lunch sponsored by the SVIA and a fun bocce ball tournament.
We will be cleaning up rain or shine, and volunteers of all ages are welcome, but please leave Fido at home. No signups are required, and we ask all volunteers to bring their own gloves and trash bags (paper preferred). A blanket is suggested for sitting in Mathews Park for lunch.
